So chilling. The San Bernardino mass murderers, Syed Rizwan Farook and his wife Tashfeen Malik, were photographed on the first day Tashfeen arrived in the United States from Saudi Arabia. See the picture.
On July 27, 2014, Syed Rizwan Farook, 28, and his soon-to-be bride, Tashfeen Malik, 27, arrived at Chicago’s O’hare Airport, where the couple was snapped in a somber-looking “selfie,” taken by airport customs. It was Tashfeen’s first time in the U.S. following Syed’s trip to Saudi Arabia in order to retrieve her, after they had met online. Frankly, neither looked happy to be inside the country. Now, more than a year later, the photo bears new significance as the couple murdered 14 people on Dec. 2 in San Bernardino, CA, before they were both killed by police.
The picture, obtained by ABC News, shows Tashfeen’s first-ever moments on American soil. Both she and Syed stare blankly into the camera, as Tashfeen takes the photo. In the background, airport security is visible.
Tashfeen had been given a “fiance” visa, which granted her a temporary green card, pending a government-issued background check. The couple went on to marry one month later, and then welcomed a daughter the following spring.
On Dec. 2, Syed attended a holiday party for the San Bernardino County health department, where he had worked for five years. He reportedly left the party, seemingly angry, before returning some time later along with Tashfeen. The couple opened fire on the party, killing 14 and wounding an additional 21.
Syed and Tashfeen then fled the scene in a black SUV, initiating a police chase. The chaos culminated in a violent standoff between Syed and Tashfeen and authorities. The situation ultimately ended with the two getting shot to death by police.
The couple had reportedly left their daughter with Syed’s grandmother on the day of the attacks. She was just six months old.
